Got my 1-X last night; Amazon said delivery by 8 PM. Received at 7:45. Proceeded to load it up and install games; 10 hours later I have three downloaded.

All while I’m chugging along with a 25/10 line which already cost me $40 a month, with a third-party ISP line.
Rogers and Bell can go fuck themselves.

Dorms are the way to go. Somewhere on oppo there is a comment with the speedtest results of me hitting 860+Mb/s down and 980+Mb/s up on my dorm’s ethernet. Forza 7 downloaded at a steady 300+Mb/s.

Is the slowdown in your network or is it in the ISP’s network? Plug the 1-X directly into your modem and see if that improves things. If it doesn’t, buying a new router won’t help.

some might say amazon delivery is faster than your internet... could have just ordered the games on amazon.

Unfortunately I’m really far away from a dorm

It’s the fact that I pay good money for 50Mb cable when ten bucks more per month would get me gig fiber. I’m switching next week (earliest install date)
ETA: I run Cat6 to the gig port on my router. That’s definitely not the problem ;)

Absolutely; that’s horrible!

They’d still have to download :(
~100GB per game is painful

I didn’t tell you the second part... I’m capped at 250GB. Lucky for me it’s peak hours only, 2AM-2PM I’m unlimited.
Had a friend on Rogers, their contract discounts expired and the cap dropped to like 60GB. Past few months without them knowing (they’re older folks) they got charged $200-300 of overage because they had friends visiting. Weren’t even over by that much, like 20GB or so. Had to call in, threaten to cancel, then they gave them a new package with 500GB.

You never know the whole situation when people post these things. Often they are talking about upgrading their router when the real problem is the connection to the house.
I admit a great deal of jealousy. GB fiber isn’t even an option where I live. To be fair, though, I haven’t had any issues with our current cable setup. My download speeds are better than what I have at work and it’s not unusual for me to work from home if I need to download a lot of data.

That’s insanity, I can hit 60gb without even trying very hard, haha.
500gb is a lot better, not great, but better.

I am like 3 or 4 blocks away from where fiber is available in my area. It’s frustrating. I’ve got 25mbit for $30/mo, so that’s decent enough though.
It’s a bit slow in situations like yours where you have to download a 50 to 100gb game and all you want do is play it right the hell NOW!

They laid fiber in my neighborhood - surprising since it’s the low-rent district - over the summer. Had I not been stubborn I could’ve been on it for a year at $50/mo but I don’t cater to solicitors. Now I’m gonna be at $85.
